Frustrated ebook reader

Hi

I'm Lene, I live in Australia, and since I got my Palm Zire 72 some years ago, I have been reading e-books...

Due to my frustration with Fictionwise and eReader, I googled 'geographical restrictions' of ebooks... and here I am...

I work a lot of night shifts, where there's not much to do, except for checking the guys every so often, so there's always 4-5 hours available to read... and my Palm is perfect due to the back-lit screen...

Now, however, I find that 99% of the books I'd like to buy are restricted... and it seems to get worse by the day... I have contacted the companies, and all they say is, what's already on their websites... Looks like these guys are the same people...

It frustrates me no end, that there's no search option for specific areas... At least then I wouldn't have to search through hundreds of books, until I found one I could buy...

I have just read a tread on this, but can't find it...

I have noticed that Amazon has an area search feature... Do I need the Kindle Reader to read their books, or can that be done on my Palm?

Thank You

Lene

Hi Lene,

I understand your frustrations. I live in Italy and find the same problem when I order ebooks or Audio books. When I first joined Audible there were almost no books that I could not buy, but once Amazon bought them all of a sudden there were so many books with geographical restrictions. I gave up my membership for this reason. As to buying ebooks from Amazon they are for Kindle or there is an app for the iphone.
But be aware that even if you do have a Kindle there are many books that still have geographical restrictions. Also you will find that many of their ebooks are actually more expensive then the paperback versions.
Hope this helps.
Ciao Ciao
