Question Dell v. HP: Which Is Better?

Okay, sports fans, I'm diving in without bothering to test the waters first. However, I was an armored cavalryman for several years, which required going ahead of the rest of the combat units as a scout.

I've been using IPAQs PDAs for a couple of years now. First was a 1945--which I passed along to one of my sons when I got an rx3115 early last year. Now, however, I'm finding that I need to be able to do more and am debating moving up to something in the Axim line with a 624Mhz processor, SD and CF slots, and lots of RAM or a higher-end IPAQ with the same attributes. No phone, but perhaps GPS. Any recommendations?

Also, which OS is better: Windows 2003 SE (which I know) or Windows 5.0?

To me, they do pretty much the same things (give or take a few things)

But I like Windows Mobile 5

I know a few people who had trouble with it, but its works like butter for me. I guess Im lucky.

Although I bought the WM5.0 upgrade for my Dell Axim X50v, I am still running WM 2003SE, mainly due to some incompatibility issues with tools I cannot live without (such as CardExportII for direct file access via USB. I know that Microsoft is working on WM 5.0 AKU 2.0 which supposedly includes true "push" e-mail support and tons of bugfixes.

While there is no guarantee that the upgrade will be available for all current Pocket PC devices, chances are that if you buy a WM 5.0 device now the upgrade to AKU 2.0 will more readily available than if you buy a WM 2003 SE device.

Mahalo, Alex! The more I consider the various options, the better off I realize I am with my IPAQ rx3115. I've added the spb diary and today programs that really expand the capabilities of my Today screen. Then I got the Pocket Informant 2005, which I find superior to Outlook's calendar. Finally, I took advantage of Phatware's package deal on Calligrapher 8.1, PhatNotes and PhatPad. All are excellent.
