Days of Christmas
Just watching American Christmas movies and notice that Christmas Eve seems to be the most important part of Christmas in these movies..
This begs the question: When celebrating Christmas, which is more important to you: Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or the day after (often called Boxing Day)? |

Christmas Day. Christmas Eve generally passes us by without noticing... And the day after christmas (which we call Second Christmas Day) we generally have the leftovers from the day before. It's also the day that all furniture shops, kitchen shops, and all other large showrooms are open and when you don't want to leave the house because everybody is on the move... (at least, I don't want to leave the house, because everybody is on the move

With my family, since it's so scattered in the abundance of step parents, the most important day is the done that we can get everyone together. Usually the Saturday after.

In Australia, usually Christmas Day is most important.
Christmas Eve used to rush around buying last minute presents. Christmas Day - most important day. This is when presents are opened, we feast (more often than not heaps of seafood), etc.. Boxing Day we laze around and watch the Boxing Day cricket match. Serious business, that! |

We've started the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day get togethers and started including all extended family relatives of everyone. It can be a bit crowded, at times, but we are getting to know in-laws of nieces and nephews and in-laws of brothers and sisters. Plus, one brother always brings a few extra kids (well, in their 20's now) that are friends of his kids. I think it was more relaxing and easier to do when it was the Saturday after Christmas for our get together. ![]() Oh, and since my mother's birthday is after Christmas, we also have a big family get together for her birthday. ![]() So.. poll question ![]() ![]() |
