BTW, weren't we told the Pocket Pro would NOT be sold by 3rd party retailers...or was that only Fry's because of their pricing the EZReader Pro so cheaply on sale?...you know in "the big thread"...more spin? naw, this is getting too easy...

Nice to see the device is at least out there for people to have other options. Good for Astak to see the value of the retail chain...

I see this as something most likely that just came up, and that RobertB had no real control over. When we were informed that the PEZ was going to be only sold through the Astak website, that was what came down through the chain of command. As everyone knows, the Suits constantly change their minds according to who pulls the strings. In this case, the purse strings.

I agree with you, however, that the more outlets that the PEZ is sold through, the better off the company will be.

Books on Board has a good selection, that now includes the Pocket Pro, see Devices. They aren't Newegg, but you do typically get some kind of ebook discount with the device.

Actually, all of the colour units in right now are painted and coated correctly, and they have had them in stock for a couple weeks. The reason they are stating OOS is to ensure that those who received the hastily shipped units have a correctly-coated one available for return.

Also, they spent the first week or so handling the new units and simulating handling, with nary a bubble to show. The new coloured units are as perfectly-coated as the black and white units.

So, if anyone still has a peeling unit from the original Jinke'd batch, rest assured that the replacement will be worth it.

I only say this now since most of the returns and exchanges for coloured units have either already taken place, or in the process now. If you are looking for a unit, I'd give it another week or two before you start seeing them available again for the rest of the public.

I actually laud Astak in this. They are missing out on Blue/Pink/Purple sales to ensure me, and others like me, that should I wish to replace it, there will be one available. Not many companies would do this.

Griffonwing, I have my purple replacement on the way to me via Fedex. Obviously, I am confident I will get a nicely looking purple one back or else I would have switch to black or white. Im glad to know they are taking priority into getting the replacements out first before having the color units available for purchase.
