Switching from PRS505 to PRS600

Has anyone made the switch to the new PRS600? I have purchased one from Staples and was wondering what differences I can expect. Will all my books (none have DRM) make the switch fine? Does Calibre support the 600?

Thanks in advance for any help.

This is my birthday present to myself, hopefully my wife doesn't get too angry... she doesn't know about it yet!

I don't have a PRS600 (yet), but do know that Calibre does support it. Also, all of the books that work on your 505 should work just fine on the 600.

Taken from Calibre's website "At the moment calibre has full support for the SONY PRS 300/500/505/600/700, Cybook Gen 3/Opus, Amazon Kindle 1/2/DX, Netronix EB600, Ectaco Jetbook, BeBook/BeBook Mini, Irex Illiad/DR1000, Adroid phones and the iPhone. In addition, using the Save to disk function you can use it with any ebook reader that exports itself as a USB disk."

Yep, it does support it. Enjoy your new reader!

I switched from the 505 to the 600. All the books in my Sony library and on my hard drive, which I had in my 505, transferred easily onto the 600 without problems. Don't know about Calibre however. Am having problems with it since attempting to upgrade it.

I received my 600 yesterday and proceeded transferring all my calibre books in the 600. Everything went fine and smooth, no error message at all, and very quickly too.

You'll love the 600, it has great features. Do not compare the screen with the 505, and you'll be able to really appreciate what the 600 has to offer.

Congratulations on your new 600

I picked up a silver 600 yesterday. I've had a 505 for about 6 weeks now and absolutely love it.

I use the Sony Library s/w, although as I'm in the UK I've installed the US version and use EntroPay to make my book purchases.

After authorising the device everything just works as before.

Unfortunately for me, it is going back though as AceFlor has said, I have compared the devices side by side and in almost all lighting conditions there is too much glare/reflection/whatever you want to call it.

The 505 looks to me like the ink is 'on top' of the screen with great clarity, the 600 is like reading through a smudged window (in low light) or a polished window in bright conditions.

Thanks for everyone's responses. I am supposed to get it today from Staples shipped to my work, but when I check their website, it doesn't give me any indication that it has shipped... I am so anxious!

I got it yesterday, so far I LOVE it. I like the double-tap on a word and it automatically looks up the word in the dictionary. You can make free-hand notes with the stylus or type with the keyboard... The screen seems excellent, maybe not as good as my 505, but I haven't done a side-by-side comparison. I have used it directly under VERY BRIGHT fluorescent lights and didn't get any glare unless I tilted the book to an UNCOMFORTABLE reading angle...
