New to all of this
Hi All.
I just got a Sony 505 about two weeks ago. I love reading it and can't wait to build a large library. But, I did figure out in a hurry that I hate the software and after some searching around I found Calibre. I've loaded it up and I think I'm going to love it, but after reading a few posts I'm concerned about what will happen the first time I connect my reader. If I don't want to tamper with my current collections, bookmarks etc. should I be moving everything to Calibre and changing tag names to correspond to my collections? Will Calibre sync automatically or will it prompt me first? |

Just point calibre to the library you already have. And no calibre doesnt auto sync, it only syncs what you select.

I'm really new to this, so please bear with me.
First - what type of files are you converting, please? From what type to what type? I have 505, too, and so have read only PDF files and LRF (whatever file type Sony uses - eh, I can't recall) Second - where did you download Calibre from, please? Thanks for letting me piggyback on your question. |

You can get calibre and all the support info you need at http://calibre.kovidgoyal.net/
It really is a great program, much better than the Sony software, but I made the big mistake of purchasing a package of books in mobi pocket format and have spent the better part of two days trying to get my files coverted to no avail. It can get really complicated. But for all other formats Calibre is working well. |
