Hi all.
My husband bought sony e500 for christmas but we are having trouble downloading updaes and books so are looking for help

Welcome to Mobileread. You've come to the right place. I can't find info on a Sony e500. Is it the Sony PRS-500? If so, what you want is Calibre - excellent software for organizing eBooks and loading them onto a Sony PRS-500. It's free from http://calibre.kovidgoyal.net/ I think the PRS-500 can only read LRF/LRX format eBook. Luckily Calibre can convert to the format from most other formats that don't have DRM.
