I saw this video a couple years ago, my dad showed it to me to convince me the e-book readers were the way to go. I thought it was rubbish then, but now, I'm actually really impressed!

(to all non-French speaking members: watch the video anyway, just to see the devices they use!)

thanks moejoe for finding that ! i would love to see that become reality, it's exactly what i hope and imagine for ebooks in the near future and i think we could easily do it, if we can only get the publishers to be more enthusiastic.

Cool! (sigh) It's just too bad it will never exist. It's just too much of a challenge for those bright people at places like aPple. Too hard. Too hard. I guess we'll just have to do without and be content with boring old technologies like paper books. (sigh) (wink)

There are already similar applications for movies. You use your cellphone camera to take a picture of the bar code of a movie you see in a shop, it will then use the internet to look up what movie it is and tell your computer to start downloading it from a bittorrent, so you can start watching when you get back home.

It shouldn't be too hard to do the same for books and make it look up the best price and then buy it from the appropriate webshop.
