Nokia 770 first impressions round-up

The long-prophesied Nokia 770 Linux handheld has finally arrived, and Reggie already posted a round-up of recent reviews and thoughts. From "a perfect must-have for any geek out there" and "a refreshingly different device" to "it was quite slow" and "it's not a Smartphone or PDA but it sure is useful", the Nokia receives a mixture of negative and positive responses, whereas the latter definitely dominates.

As a geek I certainly find it an interesting device. It caught my eye several times to be sure and I can perfectly well order it today, being in Europe.

However, I do not think I will. Basically, i cannot see anything I would actually use it for! Certainly, that never stopped a geek before but still....at least I could think up some sort of justification.

The only true wireless place I have around is my own home/apartment and when I want to browse I do so either using my laptop or my .. other laptop. 12" laptops are quite small.

Off course, I also have a pocketpc with wifi which I can browse with..and it has gprs internet too. 640x480 screen.

And for delightful reading, I grab my REB1100 with insane hours on the battery for reading.

Anyone else know why I would buy one?

O PalmSource, where art thou? The Linux train is running, and I cannot see you on board.

Their ticket apparently has expired.
