Hi Em,

Welcome to Mobileread. Check out the classic ebooks in our ebooks section.

As for a reader - There's a bunch of new readers just on their way - 5" eInk ones and updated 6" eInk ones. Sony will shortly be releasing two new models, Bookeen have their new Opus out (HarryT's should arrive today!) and BeBook have something in the works too.

On a small scale, if you have a Symbian or WinCE or Mobile Windows phone, you can probably download a version of the Mobipocket reader software for it - I read on a PDA or mobile phone for several years before getting an eInk reader. It works surprisingly well.

Oh - and we have a book club that choose one book per month and then reads and discusses it.

July's book was "Three Men in a Boat" and the August vote is happening now - see

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52057

It looks like Nineteen Eight-Four is going to win, but perhaps there's be a late surge for "Little Brother" or one of the others.

Welcome to MobileRead, Em!

I received my Sony 700 for Christmas last year and it was one of the best gifts I've ever received. As pdurrant has already told you, we have a book club here that uses free ebooks that you can download from our Ebook library so it doesn't cost you a thing! Also, the members here at MR are wonderfully helpful, so when you do get your reader, don't be shy about asking the thousand and one questions that will pop up (at least, I know they did for me ). Enjoy!

Happy Reading.

Oh, and when you have sometime away from your charges and just want to hang with some friends, spend some time in our Lounge. We have a lot of fun there.

Hi Em and welcome to MobileRead. Frankly, you may want to think twice about getting an eBook reader because the damn things are addictive! You will never go back to pBooks and the only time you'll be able to put the eBook reader down is when you're wandering mindlessly through the Forum here. Aw, it's too late, you're probably already hooked like the rest of us. Enjoy.

I've had a Sony 505 for over a year and a half and really like it.
