Put the home back on your Palm T|X
Apparently the status bar on the new Palm T|X doesn't have a home icon to get out of the current application. Thanks to Jimmie Geddes for pointing out his post on the availability of SharkTXfix, which makes the search icon work just like a home icon. It's by Tyler Faux (also the celebrity host of the official Palm Addict podcasts), who is making a name for himself with some very useful and innovative software for Palm devices. You may remember that Tyler also created SharkCache to reduce the delays on the LifeDrive, as well as a new utility for Treos that lets you send an SMS text response to a call if you don't want to answer at the moment. Kudos to Tyler for some great work in the Palm world!

Erm, I'm certain this hack is great and works well... But I don't understand why people are even complaining about the lack of "Home" on the screen. There's a hardware button and all, and I doubt it's *that* hard to hit.
Maybe you can even push it with your stylus, if you feel the need. o.O; |

![]() I guess that'd be just a *minor* (sarcasm - of course) design flaw for anyone playing games on the TX... I guess this hack is much more useful than I first realized. |

Trust me, if you had a TX the lack of home icon in status bar sucked. I am so thankful that Tyler and Brad Green got it back.

Just got my TX last Sunday, and all things considered, it's a good investment. I don't know about Singaporean dealer. Normally, one can get it at the airport duty free a day or two after announcement. Not on the TX. I passed the aiport twice since they posted the TX on the web. All they have at the airport is the T5 at S$599 (no GST, about US$360). The web advertize the TX for S$548. I got mine for S$525 at a downtown shop.
Still trying to migrate from my old M515. There are old applications which would just invoke an endless loop of system reset when installed. Took me time to learn that the way to stop the loop, is press the on/off button for 10 seconds or so, then do a hard reset. Anyway, got my calendar synchronized using Lotus Notes and EasySync, iSilo up, and Avantgo running. Those three applications are my must have list. I agree with the rest of the Palm community, Graffiti 2 is worthless. Wireless works at home, but not in the office as we use LEAP protocol. BigClock doesn't work, and I'm still puzzled why I can't install/send file to my SD card. And my telco's GPRS setting is not in the phone list. So I can't setup my GPRS connection using Bluetooth. |
