Greetings!

I’ve been lurking around these forums for a few days so I thought I’d take a moment to introduce myself and thank the community for all the great info I’ve gotten for my Kindle 2.

Since I’ve started reading these forums I’ve been to many of the sites listed in the Kindle forums for free downloads, learned how to store my e-books as unencrypted mobi files and educated myself about the issues surrounding DRM.

Looking forward to being an forum member!

Welcome out from Lurkdom! Why not check out any one of desertgrandma's many many polls also? Her enquiring mind wants to know ... what you think about dark chocolate M&Ms and stuff like that.

Welcome!

Welcome. Welcome! We're glad you've joined us at MobileRead and have moved from lurker to participant.

I have a Kindle 1 and am thinking about getting the Kindle-DX, but I'm not 100% sure that's what is the best option. I might pick up another used K1 or maybe even a K2.

So, now that you know where to get free books and how to manipulate files, what kind of books are you reading? What genre(s) do you prefer?

Since you've come out of lurk mode we can say,"Welcome to MR, Elphaba".

Don't forget to check out all the free books right here on MR... including all the Author members who very generously offer their work to us.

Enjoy your Kindle (I have the Sony 505 -*BLUE* of course. ) and ask questions if you need help.

Did somebody say chocolate? I love dark chocolate but my favorite chocolate is anything that’s chocolate and peanut butter combined. My current culinary quest is to find the perfect chocolate frozen yogurt recipe for my newest toy, a small Cuisinart ice cream maker.

My reading tastes are pretty broad, I’ve got books that can be categorized under 19th century lit, modern lit, sci fi, fantasy, horror, mystery and cookbooks all sitting on my kindle atm. I’m currently reading Jane Eyre, yesterday it was My Sister’s Keeper and next it will most likely be Wicked. I usually have several books lined up in the queue for reading along with many more samples of books to go though.

My only problem with my Kindle so far has been keeping it out of my husband’s hands He won’t buy one for himself but he sure likes mine, especially when I’m using it.

Aha! You must protect your kindle at all costs! I'm lucky, I'm married to a man who doesn't read anything other than magazines (time) in the bathroom. He has no interest in my sony. Welcome to the forum! your book tastes are somewhat like mine (except for the fantasy)

I had to have lab tests drawn this morning, fasting. So I got in to work and had a huge slab of fudge cake for breakfast. Then the lab called - they messed up my blood! Can I come back and let them re-draw it? I DON'T THINK SO! All of that sugar and chocolate in my system would have them measuring me for my coffin! "Um, I can't come back today, but I'll stop in tomorrow morning." HA!
