Got my wife's 505 running nicely but now all of a sudden there is a line running up the left of the screen about an inch in, seems anything within in this line is not updating (eg there is no ink there).
Ive tried turning it off and on and recharging it, going from book to book but it seem to be a line of dead pixels, I have no idea what to do about it. Any suggestions? |

Have you tried resetting it? Go to the troubleshooting section for instructions on both soft and hard resets. Try those and let us know what happens.

Soft and hard resets do not resolve the issue.
I guess Im going to have to get it replaced, its only a month old but being that I got it as a display fixture in circuit city as the were closing I didnt get it for anywhere near full price and do not have a receipt (the store I worked in did not offer receipts for displays or fixtures as everything was listed under one code on the register, so the receipt wouldnt show anything other than "other" anyway). Not sure what to do now? |

Did you already contact sonys support hotline? Usually they are better than their reputation. Based on your description it seems to be a defective display controller. Afaik the controller *may* get replaced under terms of warranty...but if you don't have a receipt you will likely have to pay for the repair service.

I have tried the hard and soft reset and I still have the line. Netseeker, this looks like the same problem.
It's readable but frustrating. |

Vertical or horizontal lines on the screen are generally indicative of a hardware problem with the display controller. It should be repairable under warranty.
