Hi and thanks to everyone

A new member with this very nice community since a month or so; I thought it was about time to say hi.

I also like to say “thank you”, for it was through reading many of the posts here that I could make up my mind selecting a reader. It seems to me most people on these forums are helping each other out, solving problems and discussing issues, all in a very positive atmosphere, which is really nice.

So … my brand new Sony PRS-505 arrived this week
“Silver” it is although I would have preferred the blue one. Alas I could not get a blue one for a nice price.

I think I’ll be posting some more in relevant forums with my thoughts on the device and on those very nice programs Calibre and PRSCustomizer.

Greetz to you all.

Ho QubyB and welcome to MobileRead. Shame about the silver 505. One advantage to having Silver; it does qualify you for handicapped parking in most states LOL.

Welcome QubyB!

Congrats on your silver 505! I have silver and it is much better than the blue. (You can of course get a skin for it if you want to).

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Yea, I like my new reader very much. Haven't done so much reading in years as I've done the past week Found thousands of the worlds best (and not only the oldies from Gutenberg, also modern) novels on the internet. I shared the link in the resources forum, but it was deleted by "Nate the great". Guess I violated some forum rule.

Got used to the silver already, though in the sun it still is a bit bright on the eyes.

Ladyjane ... the dog looks a bit sad ... maybe play with him / her for a while?

Quby, Nate should have explained. The link he deleted was for illegal downloads.

We do not allow that here.

Thanks for the explanation desertgrandma. I guessed it would be something like that.

On the other hand ... it depends on where you live what is legal and what not. In my country, and (afaik) also in the rest of Europe, downloading books, music and movies is not illegal (software on the other hand is).

You are allowed to download, for free, current books, songs, etc? Without paying for them?

Interesting.

We can buy them here, but only if offered thru a reputable source.

Hmm, well, here in the UK it is illegal to download books, music and films unless you have purchased them through a reputable source. You can download public domain ebooks (those no longer in copyright) for free. I believe this is the situation for most of Europe.
