Purpose of the MB "Moderation Queue"?

Mods, apologies and please move if posted incorrectly.

Pretty new here to posting life at MR and noticed a post of mine was thrown to the "Moderation Queue". Subsequent ones were not on other threads.

Simply wondering why that specific instance happened. Certainly I am not one to violate any forum rules - never have and never will. But I am curious.

Did you have a hyperlink in the message? Messages from new users which contain links get auto-moderated.

Hey HarryT. Nope. Although was responding by quoting someone else - I think their post may have had a hyperlink...

EDIT: You were right! The person I was responding to and who I quoted did indeed have a link in their post.

I imagine the moderation for new users in part is to prevent spammers from filling the boards with junk huh Harry?

Yes, that's right. It stops happening after you've made a few posts.

Certainly it does seem to be an effective measure as well. Moderating to prevent spam I mean. MR is pretty good at keeping things clear of such junk postings unlike some forums out on the web. Something the mods here at MR deserve a lot of credit for.
