Smile Hi from Minneapolis,MN

I was very excited to find this web site. I bought the original Kindle in October,2008. I like it a lot. Its especially good for downloading those hard cover best sellers or new books at a reasonable price. I really bought it because my husband and I go to a wilderness lake in Canada for most of the summer. We both love to read and our space is limited. The closest decent library is an hour away. Last summer, I brought 3 cartons of books with me and had friends bring 2 more cartons when they visited a month later. The Kindle allows me to have a lot of books and a newspaper or 2, in a very small space.
My husband is considering the purchase of a KIndle 1 or a Sony 505. I think its very hard to make a decision since so may people love the Sony or the Kindle. I'm looking for facts and opinions to help me make a decision. Neither my husband nor I are very technically savvy.
I look forward to partiicipating in the forum discussions.

Hello Poodlespal:

My wife has now had the Sony 505 for over a week and she keeps telling me how much she likes it. We had never seen an eBook reader before, so you're already ahead of where we were since you own the Kindle. We went on to Youtube and entered 'Sony 505 review' in the search box and watched the different videos to get an idea of what it would be like.

I'm sure he'll be very happy with whichever one you choose.

Do you and he read a lot of the same books? If so have him get a Kindle and you can share books of they're registered to the same Amazon account.

Wow! We're getting a lot of IceBox and Frozen Lakes members! We might have to break out the sledges and have a Meetup some time!

Hi poodlespal and welcome to MobileRead.

If your husband gets a Sony, that means, technically, you will have a mixed marriage.

Mixed marriages are the best! Opposites attract and all

Good luck making your decision!

I decided to get him the Sony PRS 505, which I ordered from Costco. It comes with an AC adapter included, for about $279. Thanks for the input. Now I'm trying to figure out a good cover for my Kindle 1 and his Sony. Some people mentioned a trifold cover, but I don't know which one it is. I'm probably less concerned with fanciness than utility, but I like good looking too. Also,do you folks think I need the separate screen protector stick on stuff? Anyone have a light they like for either the Sony or the Kindle? Please excuse me in advance if this is on the wrong thread.
