General Metadata Question

Hi. I have a general metadata question.

I have several ebooks that have an "eBook Info" section appended to the end of them where it lists various metadata such as author, title, etc. When I view the ebook using Calibre's ebook viewer and click on the metadata button, it displays the metadata from the eBook Info section.

For the very same book I also have a .opf file created by Calibre. However, the metadata in the .opf file doesn't match the metadata in the eBook Info section. When I click on Calibre's "Edit meta information" button, it displays the metadata from the .opf file.

So when I transfer the prc file to a Kindle, how will the Kindle determine the metadata? Will it read from the .opf or from the eBook Info section?

I don't have my Kindle yet, else I'd just experiment myself. Thanks.
