PC / Thunderbird problem

For the technical wizards out there, your help would be appreciated.

I use Thunderbird as my mail program. Pipex is my ISP.

I have 2 email addresses. My main one is on the Pipex account. Every now and then this refuses to transmit (smtp server unable to accept or is refusing connections), whilst in all other aspects it is fine.

In order to 'test' sending and eliminate router/ISP issues, I created a google mail account, also through Thunderbird (not web).

When my Pipex mail refuses to transmit, I use the google mail account, which has never failed.

I can ping the Pipex smtp server on port 25, so the 'problem' does not "seem" to be with them.

It has been suggested the issue relates to something on my PC, especially as other accounts in the household (on other PCs networked through the router) don't have the same problem.

If anyone has a clue, I would appreciate it....

I thought you were having a problem with coming up with a politically correct way to refer to your drunk relatives who keep drinking all your Thunderbird.

Well, I'll let it pass this time. Hope there's someone on the board today who can help you fix the problem.
