There is also an unspecified wireless interface, the user texts directly between txtr devices can share

The device is much smaller than I expected (in a good way). It almost doesn't look like a 6" screen (I'm assuming it is).

Screen refresh seems very fast and the moving picture was neat to see. Hopefully later videos will show more of the menu system.

I also would like to see a rotation of 180 degrees instead of just 90 degrees. The 180 degree rotation will allow use of the cursor movement for either right-hand or left-hand users.

Overall, that looks very nice. I was hoping some video and/or pictures would show up. I'm impressed with the speed and what appears to be a nice clean interface. I wonder if you can load your own fonts and where they are in finalizing what drm they will support.

Interesting. He didn't flip it over to put the slider control on the right side of the device. Will you be able to do that?

Apparently the back is removable and you can put in an SD card. They're claiming 3 weeks between charges (translated from the German page by Google).

I've read somewhere that is a standard feature, but I agree it would be nice to see it in action.

My German is non-existent. Do they mention any updated availability details such as timing, country etc.

Holy crap, if what they're saying is I can send books from one Txtr to another, then I'm definitely in. This is getting better and better

Open Source too? Holy source-code, Batman!

From a book sharing perspective they have a pretty nice backend service the device integrates with. Check out their website for more details, but it's a social network type of service. You can post books, share books, post comments, sync your reading information, etc. They also expect to offer the service for cell phones and I believe they have an iphone app out now. It looks like you could read on your txtr and then if you get a minute somewhere on your cell phone it would sync the position and you would pick up where you left off on the txtr. Pretty slick overall.

Yeah, I've been looking into that. From design to the backend I'm really loving this device, open-source development is just the icing on the cake. It's so simple looking and unobtrusive, as I imagined an e-book reader should look. it's the right size for me, as I mostly read paperbacks and it seems very similar in dimensions (screen wise). I can't wait for this to be released

One other thing that looks pretty good is the inclusion of a folder structure. It would be great to get a view of the rest of the menu structure and their text input capabilities for sorting, etc.

From the rough transalation done by Google on the original link, it seems they're releasing in Europe first until they can get deals in the US. Looks like a reversal of the Kindle exclusivitey. I wonder, with the support of their website and the growth of e-books, if Wizpac and the Txtr might trump Amazon before they even reache the European markets with a kindle? I know which one I'd rather have

that good, Europeans Need a good ebook reader. as i think the Readius is vaporware.

how popular is amazon in Europe? In the US most people who Order online (there are still many who dont like to, I like to SAVE money, so i almost always order online) Use Amazon atleast some of the time and the Kindle on the Main Page Accounted for the most popular ebook reader i the world. I dont think anyone even comes close to touching amazon in the ebook market, eventually im sure they will open up the kindle store to other devices/ or DRM free the kindle store, untill them I expect whereever the Kindle touches, the kindle will rule.
