PDA Replacement Battery

Hi folks,
The battery on my iPaq H3650 appears to have given up the ghost. The PDA works fine because I can read my books when it's plugged into power. When I unplug it though within minutes I am informed my battery is low.

So I have been looking at sites to buy a replacement and came across this one and wanted to know if anyone has bought from them?:

http://www.pdainternalbattery.com/

Seems to be the same company as laptopsforless.com, ipodbattery.com etc. The price on the battery looks good ($39USD + s/h).

I'll probably buy from them unless I hear bad opinions by folks. If I do buy I'll post my experience.

Thanks!

Sorry, I haven't encountered any battery problems with my h1930 yet, so I can't comment. I _would_ like to hear your comments on the experience, though!

Craig.

Ordered

Well we'll find out early next week or so! Final cost was $45.50. Here's to hoping the surgery goes well.

That's one of the nice things about my h1930. When/if the battery goes, I just pop the back off and replace it. It's harder to change the battery in my mobile phone <chuckle>

Success!

Well my H3650 iPaq has a new lease on life. I got the battery two days after I ordered it which was a nice surprise. It came with two screwdrivers (one a torx type for the four iPaq screws and a flathead to pry the case open.) Everything came apart easily. Took about ten minutes and that is only because I was trying to be really careful. The ribbon cable from the battery to the circuit board was a little tough to get on just right but snapped in place without too much fuss.

Once everything was back together the only casualty was the little sliding door on the bottom that houses the hard reset switch. It no longer stays closed but slides of it's own accord. Not a big deal at all and probably happened because I didn't let some little piece of plastic get lined up just right before putting it back together. I'm not worried since you can't reset it accidentally. You gotta flip the switch with a stylus to get it to reset.

The battery works great so far. I couldn't have the ipaq off power more than a couple of days before it would try to wipe everything out. I charged the new one up to full a few days ago and took it off power. It still reads full (admittedly I haven't used it much...mainly testing how long a charge lasts when not plugged in.) Also I think I'll be able to use the battery more the way it's intended. Correct me if I'm wrong but Lithium Polymer batteries are rated for so many charge cycles. And you get the most life from them by running your device near empty before recharging? That's my understanding anyway.

Soooo on my one and only experience i'd say laptopsforless.com (pdainternalbattery.com and many other names it seems) are recommended.

Take care and happy reading.

Thanks for the report. Glad to hear everything went well.
I'm not familiar with this... is it same specs as the original battery, or did it change the power rating or anything about the case by doing this?

Good to know there's an option out there!

I'm not sure what the specs were on the original but I'm almost positive this one has a higher power rating. It's a 1700 mAh. I didn't check to see if it's printed on the side of the original. That means it should hold a charge longer but I don't know how much more. It's been so long since mine held a charge that one hour is an improvement ;-)

It didn't change anything in the case. I was concerned that it might not go back together flush but it did. It's important to me that the dimensions didn't change since I use it for reading so I'm holding the pda for such a long time. No problems there though.

Overall I'm happy with my purchase. I've priced newer handheld devices but found I'd need to spend at least $200 or so for what I want. So spending the $45 or so to extend the life of this one a few years seemed like the best thing for me.

IPAQ 3650 battery

I bought a replacement battery from laptopsforless.com too. I installed it and it was working great for a couple of weeks. It is still working, but it seems the battery has become "bloated" or something. It was pushing on the case and screen and making the LCD have little black spots. I opened the case and the battery looks "puffy." I think it is defective. Hopefully I can get a replacement. Has anyone else had this happen and were you able to get a replacement?
