Only lower half buttons working on my 505
Hi there.

I just copied a few hundred mp3's to my prs-505, but after I started playing them, the buttons on the lower part of my reader stopped responding. (zoon, page turn, mark, menu and pauze)

The buttons on right side of my reader still work and I can still turn it of and on using the top slide.

I tried a soft reset a few times but this didn't help.

The volume buttons also still work....

Is this a hardware failure or can I fix this by resetting somrthing?....

Tried reflashing the PRS-505
Hi there.
I just reflashed the 505 and I still have the same problem...

I now think it's hardware related and I have to get it repaired by Sony which is quite a bummer because I live in Europe....

Does anybody have experience with getting sony Europe to repair/replace a PRS-505 ??

A few hundred? It is possible you've just put a lot on. Try deleting a good chunk and see if that helps.

I already removed the lot including all my books stored on it.
I already formated the internal memory.
I already flashed and re-installed the operating system.
I already tried the 10 times soft reset trick.
I can not hard reset because I need the "MARK" key to work for that, which doesn't work anymore....

Any other ideas?

Hi,
I have a similar problem with my PRS 505. When I boot the system, the Reader starts and on the last page, the screen remains freezed. All the buttons are no operationnal..I must perform a reset. This problem appears once on three time.
Perhaps a new firmware exists...Somebody know the last one ?

Sounds as if you may have a corrupted file system. Try doing a "chkdsk" on it.

Tried it, but to no avail....

Maybe flashing it again after the diskcheck?

I will try in a minute.

No, used two disk check utilities on my readers memory and Flashed the drive again, still no joy....

I FIXED IT!!

I disasembled my reader, removed and cleaned the ZIF connector that was connecting the "keys" to the MOBO and reassembled it again. Now it is fully functional again.....
