i need help
Hello,
I have a sony reader 505. Recently I tried charging it using the ac adapter for a Microsoft Zune, when I disconnected the reader I found my battery drained an a little yellow light blinking next to the on/off slide and the words "starting up" on the screen. I then charged the reader on a pc and found that all my books were still there, but the continue reading option was empty of my last saved place. Is my reader ruined? what happened? |

It sounds like your reader restarted (reset), you get yellow blinking and "Starting" if you use the reset hole on the back of the unit. When it happens, it loses the information on last book. Were you able to turn it on and use it? Why do you think it's ruined?

Does the Zune adapter plug into the usb port on the reader? If so, it might not have been charging your 505 properly, and could have actually been draining power.
I've read several posts here from people who have discovered that more often than not, ac to usb chargers don't work properly with the Sony readers. To charge from ac you'll need a proper ac adapter (that plugs into the round port next to the usb port on your reader). The chargers for the Sony PSP work great for this--and are much cheaper than the AC adapter Sony sells for the reader. Hope this helps--and welcome to the forum!! dordale ![]() |

This sounds like a case of the wrong AC adapter.
The Sony does not charge on AC power through the mini USB. If you do that, it will drain the power. Get a Sony PSP charger. |

My reader still turns on and displays everything properly I was just wondering if maybe I did some permanent internal damage or something

No, it sounds like it just did a reboot & lost track of what you were last reading - nothing permanent or major!
