Libra 2 How to get dictionary?
I messed up my Libra 2 by doing an unnecessary factory restore.
It is now working again fairly well but no longer has the dictionary. That would be handy when reading Captain Hornblower books by C. S. Forrester because i could look up the strange nautical terms such as "Beat to quarters". How can I get the dictionary? Do I need more than one? |

There should be some dictionaries that are part of the factory image. You can check what dictionaries are available by following these instructions from Kobo, https://help.kobo.com/hc/en-us/artic...r-Kobo-eReader. For new dictionaries, This thread is a good start. Or here. If you find a dictionary in the StarDict format, you can convert it using instructions here These are old threads, but I believe the information is still relevant.
I have no idea if they would include nautical terminology. |

Go into the settings, check the boxes for the dictionaries you want to install, and then sync to download them from Kobo. This works even when you use sideload mode.

You should first upgrade the firmware since a factory reset puts you back to an older firmware version.

You tap the circular arrows icon at the top of the Home/My Books screen.

Thanks for replies. Have been out of action for a while due to broken back and severe pain, which made clear thinking difficult. Discovered today that OED is working, when accidentally touched a word. Don't know how that happened. perhaps I am wifi connected? How can I tell? I don't want that because it uses more battery and about all I can do now is sit and read.

Is it possible to look up a phrase rather than a single word?
E.G. "beat to quarters" - which in star trek would be "battle stations". EDIT Please ignore the above; I can use a laptop to search. Last edited by rrr; 04-17-2026 at 12:49 AM. Reason: wish I had not posted this |
