Hello

Hello all,

My name is Art. I am retired and live in the NW USA where we have new snow again this morning.

The town I live in is small, maybe 600 people when everyone's home, and the nearest book store or supermarket book rack is about 25 miles away. We do, however, have good Internet service.

E-books seem made for an avid reader in my circumstances. I'm eager to learn about devices, book availability and prices, and any pitfalls to avoid.

I've lurked here for several days now and am very impressed with the level of knowledge and sharing I've seen.

Welcome! Yes, it certainly sounds like you would put an e-device to good use. As far as deciding which one, well, they all have good points. For instance, I need large fonts and a lighted screen, so I recently changed to a Sony 505 with the booklight cover. You may want the convenience of Kindle's Whispernet. Cost may or may not be an issue for you. So decide what you can't live without, and hopefully that will make the decision simpler.

Welcome Art. I see you're over on the dry side. Back in 1964 I came close to your town, just over on the Oregon side of the river. Hope you're enjoying the forum and retirement. I enjoy both.
