Does anyone know if there’s a reason the two transfer methods have to use completely different file names (dot file vs regular file)? Or why the usb file has to be so bloated in comparison to the wireless version? It looks like the usb version includes every single column of data, while wireless method only sends the basic metadata. If it helps, I’m comparing kobo over usb and wireless. Thanks!

what wireless transfer method? There is no wireless transfer method in calibre that that sends metadata.calibre to a device. If you mean the wireless device driver, then what files are created is completely dependent on the client software that is connecting to calibre, not calibre.
