Calibre doesn't open on this machine

I have installed Calibre 8.40 and other versions on a updated Windows 10 LTS 1607 with all patches but it does not start anymore. No signal of any type. I have rebooted, reinstalled tried from CMD but nothing!

I have also unistalled Calibre, deleted the installation folder, rebooted and started again with no success.

that's an error loading a DLL, try rebooting in safe mode in case its caused by some program interfering.

Hmmm no clue then, is this specific to 8.x? Try uninstalling and installing the last 7.x version instead from https://download.calibre-ebook.com/

I have done it and Calibre starts. Version 7.0.0 here

I have tested from version 7.0.0 and upward. It works up to 7.26.0. Version 8.0.0 does not work.

Unfortunately, Qt6.9 requires Windows 10 (version 1809 or later) or Windows 11.
Seems you're stuck with Calibre 7.26.0.

Out of curiosity, why are you still using that antique version of Windows 10? Unless you have purchased the extended support which would expire in Oct. 2026, you are long out of support since the standard support expired in Oct. 2021.
