Where to buy

I currently have a Kindle Paperwhite and am thinking of getting a Libra Color. Is it better to buy directly from Kobo or Amazon? The seller on Amazon is BlueProton.

I have seen Amazon comments that BlueProton charges a pretty hefty restocking fee if you happen to return an item. I purchased a Sage from Walmart that I had to return. I received free shipping, a full refund, free return (30 days) and no restocking fee.

As far as I know, Kobo is now running a store on Amazon. A search on Kobo Amazon brings it up for me on Amazon. You can try https://www.amazon.com/stores/Kobo/p...sin=B0CZY1LRT4.

I guess the Amazon Kobo Store is nice if you aren't looking for Kobo ereaders.

Are you attempting to be humorous? If so, it fell rather flat.

As far as I can tell, the link I posted goes to the Kobo store on Amazon where, strangely enough, they are selling Kobo ereaders.

What do you see when you go to these links: Kobo Store on Amazon US Or Kobo Store on Amazon CA?

Just remember that just because an item is listed on the Kobo Store (or any other store) it doesn't mean it will be fulfilled by the store owner.

Interesting. I don't see Kobo selling many ereaders clicking on your U.S. link.

I click on the Clara Colour. It doesn't appear to be in stock (no price 8s listed).

I click on Clara BW: the same.

I click on the Sage, Kobo has a used one for sale, or a new one is listed for ~$400 sold by some other company.

And the Clara Colour the cheapest seems to be a case Bundle for $290 sold and shipped by Blue Proton.

What do you see?

You need to click on "See All Buying Options". There are no featured offers, but Triplenet Pricing INC is selling both the Clara Colour and BW. None of the sellers appears to be Kobo directly.

It's a "Kobo Store," but most of the Kobos are sold by Blue Proton and not Kobo. Even the Kobo gift cards are not sold by Kobo, they're sold and shipped by Amazon.

Oddly, when I look at Amazon, I see that Kobo ereaders are in stock. Though these are sold by Rakuten Kobo not Kobo US. OTOH, I still don't see a ColorSoft offered for sale on Amazon.

And this is what I see when I look at the Libra Color. So of course, you are correct, the OP could buy a used Libra Colour for $225.99 or buy a new one for $363.99 from the US Amazon Kobo store.

So sad. John, if the Ships from: line does not read Kobo US for those looking at Amazon.com, it has nothing to do with Kobo. Ask Amazon about why they mix results in their search including show PocketBook and Boox devices. For me, looking at Amazon Canada, I see a Kobo Libra Colour for $259.99 Cdn or about $191.65 US.

I always thought that Amazon Canada's search results were bad though but at least the results can include no matches found whereas Amazon US returns search results that no search algorithm coded by someone in possession of a moiety of their senses would return as being relevant. It strikes me as being sad that I found a random Internet search engine can return better results from Amazon than Amazon's search can.

Thanks to all who answered. I ended up buying from Amazon, Blue Proton store. Looks like they are the official kobo sellers in the USA.

I really like the KLC. I'm coming from a Kindle Paperwhite. I like the page turn buttons, the number of pages in the chapter at the top, and pages read to all pages listed at the bottom.

I just got one this way, too. I'd forgotten how much I like page turn buttons until I saw how smudged the screen on my Kindle Colorsoft was last weekend and decided to give the Kobo a try. It's been my go to ereader since it was delivered on Monday.
