Sync active pages between Kobo devices using Calibre?
Hey there. I have two Kobo devices, and use Calibre to sideload the exact same library of books on each. I'm looking for a way to sync progress between devices - dir/filenames are the same on each. I believe I have my progress sync to Calibre already, but I haven't found it to update my position across devices. Hoping there's a solution.
Thanks for any suggestions! |

You need to use Kobo Utilities and configure the columns to use for store reading locations.
Then ensure you have it set to
Then when the second device is connected do a restore reading location function. |

If you want to try it, be aware that you need the version from this post --> Beta Annotations Plugin. |

Kobo annotations are my white whale. Backing them up to calibre, and re-syncing them to kobo devices would be very valuable for me. Maybe someday.

I've not used separate "Annotations" plugin feature for years. I use the Copy Annotations etc in Kobo Utilities, as I don't want them in Calibre. I save text files in the source directories that the import to Calibre to make an epub started from.
I'd have zero use for writing annotations to a Kobo, because it's purely for proofing / edit workflow. I never look them up on the Kobo after making them. Last edited by Quoth; 06-28-2025 at 10:10 AM. |

I use annotations on my kobo extensively with nonfiction titles. I'll make a note, and want to refer to it again later. Other times I'll make an annotation in a fan-translated title about a typo I find so that I can correct it later.
