some metadata not transfered from Calibre to Kobo

I noticed some time ago that the pages number didn't figure for some books exported to my Libra 2 or my Sage, even after turning the device off/on a couple of time. I recently noticed that the collections are unreliable, because the numbers differ widely for those I was preparing in anticipation of travels to german speaking countries: German 174 instead of 197 in Calibre, and the recent subset German fanfiction 9 instead of 32. It seems the problem mostly concerns recent additions.

The only difference in my process is that I convert epubs to kepubs in Calibre to facilitate the transfer to the readers.

My Libra is on the 4.38.21908 F/W, Calibre and the plugins I use (Kobo Utilities for instance) are up to date.

Any idea what is going on?

Yes, many times.

And have you checked your collection settings in the Kobo driver? Some people reported their settings were lost after updating to 8.xx.

If you were using the KoboTouchExtended driver and have updated to calibre 8+, you need to manually transfer the settings from the KTE driver to the KoboTouch driver (the KoboTouch driver now supports all the features such as converting to kepub on the fly that used to require the KTE driver).

How are you getting the page number? I don't know of any way to get a page count with calibre that matches what you see with KePub as it relies on your eBooks settings such as font size, line height, and margins.

Looking at his message, I suspect it's should be book count not page count. For example 9 German fanfiction books rather that 32 books.

No, I'm speaking of the number of pages in the book. In the books list forms it appears under the title and above the eventual series name and number, with the last line for the author. In the model I used the value in the pages column plus a space and "pages", same thing for the details, above the summary.
I remember I used the subtitle, but in kobo touch, the line "subtitle" can't be chosen anymore.

Yes, it can be chosen, at the metadata section. I'm using it. And, BTW, you can find all you old settings in a file named as device_drivers_KOBOTOUCHEXTENDED.py.json or something like that (I don't remember the exact name and I don't have calibre now) inside the calibre settings folder so you can copy.

Your welcome information made me realize that Kobo Touch Extended had disappeared from my list of downloaded plugins. Unfortunately, it proves impossible to install it back: I have several time installed it, seemingly well, but restarting Calibre it was still absent. I don't know how to solve that. I haven't the time to try anything else today, but if anybody has an idea, I will try it tomorrow.

It doesn't work in the current Calibre because it's not necessary anymore. Calibre does it all natively now.

Configure KoboTouch as you had configured KoboTouchExtended (check my previous message to find the file where that configuration is still stored).

Despair! I have now have 0 books in each collection in the Libra (after transferring the metadata and turning the device off the on). Since I have presently 8608 items in my Libra 2 (more in the Sage and even more in the Elipsa), I really can't do without the 161 collections. The information is still present in each item's metadata, generated with Kobo Utilities.
As far as I know, the only way to create the information for collections is through the 2nd tab in KoboTouch since KoboTouch extended disappeared.
So I selected the first "collections" line and the first subline "colonne collections" inserting {tags:} in the available field. I didn't select the following 2 sublines "modèle de collections" and "créer des collections".

I tried a couple of times and it didn't work. Can somebody help?

• You need to check "Create collections". You should restart calibre after changing this, just in case.
• You need to ensure Metadata Management is set to automatic (Preferences / Sending books to device)
• The template should be {tags} not {tags:}. The second works, but only by accident.
