Any way to force a re-sync of all collection metadata?

Hi, I have a Libra 2 and am syncing collections between Calibre and Libra. It's been working fine for months/years as far as I know, but I've just noticed that the total number of books in some collections on the Libra 2, don't quite match the correct totals in Calibre. Most of the totals are fine, some are out by a few.

Rather than go through the entire library to find which books don't have the correct collections assigned, is there some way to force a re-sync of metadata that includes all the collection info?

I'm running Calibre 8.3 and Kobo Utilities 2.22.0.

Many thanks.

I'd had books reappear in collections (mostly my To Be Read) after being removed via KoboTouch driver. This might account for it.

You can delete all collections on device, sync, and then connect to Calibre to re-create them.

Thanks. Can you please clarify how to delete all collections on the Libra? And by doing this, it only deletes that metadata, right, not the books within that collection as well?

And presumably your 'sync' happens *after* connecting to Calibre?

EDIT: I just realised I can press and hold on each individual collection, and then select delete. So I'm assuming this is the way.

Go to Collections tab, press each collection until menu appears, delete. might take a while if you have a lot.

You sync before connecting, to make sure they're not on server anymore.

Then connect to Calibre and it'll re-generate the collections from KoboTouch settings.

Ah, thanks, I didn't realise that the collections also get sync'd back to the Kobo server.

https://www.kobo.com/ca/en/library/collections lists your collections. Can't delete from site, but can confirm what it looks like on their end. Sideloads don't show up so they might appear empty or fewer.

I followed these steps but unfortunately the sync with Calibre didn't restore any collections. Maybe it only does the sync for newly added books? Or is there a setting somewhere I missed? Any tips where to look? Thanks

EDIT: Just to clarify, the entire library is sideloaded from Calibre.

Would it not be better to edit the KoboTouch driver to remove the collections settings and with Metadata management set to Automatic management (in Preferences > Sending books to devices) the collections should be removed. Then eject, reconfigure KogoTouch for the correct collections settings and reconnect and collections should be sorted.

Actually, would the collections be sorted is Automatic management is set and and KoboTouch properly configured without the need for the a double setup/connect?

I think I realised I have a more fundamental problem.

Trying to figure out why my collections aren't re-syncing, I realised that the KoboTouchExtended plugin was no longer installed. So I tried re-installing, which seems to happen ok, but it doesn't show up in the list of installed plugins.

Bit stumped now. Any suggestions?

I discovered that KTE functionality is now built into Calibre 8, so that explains why it's not installing I guess. (Although it doesn't explain why it's still offered as a plugin.)

Anyway, any tips on where to configure the built-in Kobo capability in Calibre to let collections sync with my #myshelves column again? I couldn't find anything in Preferences.

Features are in base KoboTouch driver now. Just copy the settings over.

Deleting books from collections brings them back, so I suspect (not tested) that the collections themselves would not properly delete. I do it on device to make sure it registers.

Sorry to be so hopeless here, but how do I navigate to the settings for base KoboTouch driver? I'm assuming I have to re-configure the built-in driver to handle the collection sync in the same way that the plug-in did, but I can't find it.

This all explains why my collection numbers were wrong, since they haven't been syncing since the update to Calibre 8.

Found it, under KoboUtilities -> Configure driver ...

Under the tab for 'Collections, covers & uploads', tick 'Collections columns' and include #myshelves.

Now working again. Phew!!
