Paperwhite 6 screen discolouration

I know that the Kindle Colorsoft was riven with yellow and pink frontlight problems when it released, with multiple Reddit threads attesting to this. There were also problems with the PW6 frontlight, albeit not as bad. My PW6, which I bought last year, also has a yellow and pink frontlight. I was wondering if these issues had been resolved since then? For me, a frontlight more uniformly yellow in tone isn't a problem, but mine has a yellow band on the bottom half and pink blotches on the top half. Is it worth trading in for a replacement, or does the issue still stand? If I'm likely to get a similar result, then I won't bother.

Edit: Edited to clarify I'm talking about issues with the colour and evenness of the frontlight.

I've never heard of anything like that. AFAIK backlight can cause discolouration, is that what you're talking about? If not have you any pictures to show how it looks?

It’s a pretty well known issue, mostly affecting launch models of the PW6 and Colorsoft. You can get an idea of how it looks on my Colorsoft here.

From what I gather it does look like the quality has generally improved, i.e. there’s a higher chance that a newly purchased device will have uniform lighting than the launch model, but it’s still hit and miss; personally I’m not sure I would go for a trade-in, as there’s still a chance to get an uneven screen. Then again you could always get a replacement.

I bought my PW6 in early January after hearing about WinterBreak. Maybe it was the luck of the draw but there is no noticeable bottom yellowing that I can detect.

Good to hear that overall, the frontlight quality has generally improved. I should have remembered lessons from the past and waited several months for any release issues to be resolved. Again, it's not the yellowness of the frontlight that's the problem, but the unevenness of it, and the pink blotches in the top half of the screen. If the more recent devices are yellow but without those, that would be fine by me.
