Spurious search history in Find bar

Calibre 7.26 / Linux Mint 21.

1. Open the Find bar (Ctrl + F.
2. Enter a search term.
3. Now backspace slowly through the characters.

Actual result: You may find a spurious entry in the search history looking like the bottom result in the image below.

Another thing is that, IMV, the automatic popup history is inconvenient; it should only popup if the user wants it to, i.e. by right clicking.

Does not replicate for me. If that entry is in your search history presumably it was entered as a search at some point, probably accidentally.

Not only in viewer find, for me autocomplete is inconvenient everywhere.

Added: most particularly when editing book list cells in Dark mode, where the drop down is barely distinguishable from the data it's covering.

Even if I clear the search history the strange character appears again when I backspace. I definately didn't enter it. Perhaps it's a Linux issue? To my knowledge it wasn't an issue in older versions of Calibre.

Also I agree with BetterRed, that autocomplete is more a hindrance than a help. AFAIR it didn't occur in older versions.
