I've setup the WinterBreak jailbreak on my 11th generation Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition. I mostly followed https://kindlemodding.org/jailbreaking/WinterBreak/, but due to https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...5&postcount=11, I used the hotfix, MRPI, coversetter, and renameotpbin files from https://fw.notmarek.com/khf/ (I used the official KUAL+coplate, since the linked thread had an outdated one, and stated it hadn't been modified).
Everything was working, and I started installing the KUAL extensions https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=225030. After installing the Gawk binary, the Kindle returned to the homescreen. When I re-open KUAL, I get a blank white screen forever, and can't do anything except hold down the power button to reboot. I've tried restarting the Kindle, and uninstalling and reinstalling KUAL using ;log mrpi. Does anyone know how I can either fix this or reinstall the original busybox awk? |

It was speeding up old devices (Kindle Touch - original one). It is not required on current models at all

I have the same issue after installing gawk on my KT4 (firmware version: 5.17.1.0.3) but when I restart the kindle and plug it into my computer, it doesn't mount the kindle and I can't access it from the file explorer and the kindle screen saying its in usb mode doesn't pop up. Before I installed gawk I could access the kindle from the file explorer just fine.

The same thing happened to me when I was installing all the post jailbreak files. (I had just jailbroken a kindle keyboard and a dx so I thought I should install the same extensions that were recommended for them.) I don't remember if I ended up doing a factory reset afterwards or if a hard reboot was enough to get to the point of being able to fix it.
I posted a request in the thread with NiLuJe's snapshots to add a note about this in the extensions section. Hopefully this won't happen to too many others. |
