Metadata issue

Hi,

I recently started using KOReader and I'm also new to android.
So apologies in advance if I'm making dumb mistakes and asking really basic questions.

I was trying to get this** userpatch to browse books by metadata that I have cleaned up and organized on Calibre.

And it nothing was showing up. I get the option to "Browse by metadata/series,title,language,author,keyword" but no books show up. Hopefully I did everything right in the process of downloading it (I downloaded just this one lua file and put it in the "koreader/patches" folder.).

Seemed like a metadata detection issue so I tried to see if "Calibre metadata search" was working properly. And KOreader crashes every time I select a book. There are search results, so the metadata is there. Crash report often doesn't show anything (blank screen) or just says:

V/ActivityThread(20925): reportTopResumedActivityChanged - > onActivityTopResumed

So two things...

1. How do I get this "BrowseByMetdata" patch to work?
2. How do I stop KOReader from crashing when using "Calibre metadata search"?

I have a ONYX BOOX PAGE and KOreader version 2024.11.

Please note that the patch will not work with the next release.

Browse by metadata is available in Collections.

EDIT: the patch will continue to work.
