PocketBook InkPad Eo bootloop after update

Hi!

made an update on my Eo (the worst tolino that isn't a tolino) and now it's stuck with the

Pocketbook
InkPad Eo
-----

display at start.

Any idea how to factory reset that p of s ?

the device has no buttons - only power... reset works with long press
all factory reset methodes from the support page failed
found a lot of ppl online with the same problem but no solutions...

Did you by any chance use a password to protect the device from unauthorized access?

like everybody else with that problem: yes

this device makes no sense at all without password protection...

if you have no problem with sending a device, that has your unencrypted documents, logins, data on it, for repair, pocketbook offers a repair service...

i won't do that and now i have a very expensive paperweight.

oh, and btw: according to some reddit posts the nice ppl at pocketbook knew at least 15 days before i bricked my device of the problem with the update. did they stop the update or at least put out a warning? no... they didn't

my recomendation - don't buy pocketbook devices. the hardware is crap, the software outdated, the security is non existent and the service if anything happens is fast - but useless... but the colors are nice. and from time to time they kill your devices with updates

In favour for them, they do "repair" the device without hassle, either by burning the factory firmware on it again and deleting all your content or giving you a new device. But that is standard procedure with other vendors too.
And they are not the only vendors on the Android market which don't give away factory images and the tools to upload it on the device again.

hm, and you don't see a problem with sending a device with unencrypted personal data not knowing what they will do with it? e.g. there is my google account wich can be used to activate other devices - including email, password manager and google pay... and amazon, and kobo, and...

what do they do with the devices they get - looking at the reddit posts they send you a new one - so sombody now has a device with your data. i don't think it's a big problem to read out the memory or reactivate the device...

You stated your device was password protected, so your device is therefore encrypted and the data secure.

it's android 11. there's no encryption of the files or apps or ram or flash on the device. the (4 digit) password that the device offers only keeps you from wakeing the device from sleep mode - it's not asked when you reset and coldboot (as i sayed, they give a sh*t about data security)
