Problems to use the same library under windows and linux
Hello,
I am currently using version 7.26 (i.e. the latest) under Windows 11 and under Manjaro KDE (as a virtual machine under Virtual Box). Normally I was always able to access the library created under Windows from both Windows and Manjaro without any problems. Access works without any problems under Windows, but under Manjaro I get an error message that it is damaged... And I couldn't open it ![]() Here is a short log after caliber under Manjaro tried to repair the library: Traceback (most recent call last): File "calibre/gui2/ui.py", line 964, in library_moved File "calibre/db/legacy.py", line 190, in __init__ File "calibre/db/legacy.py", line 46, in create_backend File "calibre/db/backend.py", line 525, in __init__ File "calibre/db/backend.py", line 964, in initialize_notes File "calibre/db/notes/connect.py", line 79, in __init__ File "calibre/db/notes/connect.py", line 100, in reopen File "calibre/db/notes/schema_upgrade.py", line 29, in __init__ File "calibre/db/backend.py", line 413, in execute File "src/cursor.c", line 240, in resetcursor apsw.IOError: IOError: disk I/O error Can anybody help me? |

Not a good idea to access the same database from two programs, especially when not same OS and VM to do that is hugely less safe than dual boot and Linux accessing the NTFS.
Things like that (and NAS/net shares) work till they don't. I've found that the Vbox (guest OS) isn't reliable at accessing files shared from the host OS. I make a copy. Though I'm the other way round, XP, W7 and Win10 VMs using VBox on the native Linux Mint (A Dell 7050 lunch box). Linux Mint with Mate is FAR faster on same HW as Win7 or Win10 (I've a spare Lenovo E460 laptop that I can swap the HDD on quickly, it's a 2016 i5 with AMD GPU & 8G RAM). |
