Unhappy Calibre does not accept new books

Is your library on a cloud service? Is it being synced to a cloud service? Do you have an AV getting in the way?

Drive Q is a drive I mounted from a NAS. My library is there, in a folder called Caliber.

Can a calibre library be on a NAS if it's done carefully and you have a drive letter to the library?

Are you asking? Well, I had a drive letter mounted, as you can see.

Well, I have a single NAS drive as the letter Q: in Windows. When you say doing carefully does it involve something more than that?

Basically yes. No cloud and no networked drive, or there will likely be issues.

I have my libraries on a networked drive. Not a NAS though. Never had a problem for years. I mean more then 10 years.

I'm wondering if I could move my libraries to a NAS.

Yes, and I have mine in Dropbox.

Lots and lots of people do have issues with both networked drives and cloud, though, as seen in this very thread.

No. Any physically ATTACHED drive.

My main is on U: (a second partition on a really big (when it was added) drive, Magazines is on M: (A USB drive)
2 way sync (of any kind) is a disaster waiting to strike a Calibre Library.
The Filesystem part MUST stay in lockstep with the DB part.

My 'Intake' Library is on another PC on my desk.
Years ago I discovered that Calibre became unstable (non-responsive) if I tried to edit metadata from the other (main) PC.
OTOH I found I could do a PULL transfer (Copy to PC) reliably.

YMMV
This is NOT the official policy on network attached.

USE ANY contrary to policy advice AT YOUR OWN RISK.
