Ebook Viewer locks up

(Mac OS 14.7.3)

Hoping I'm in the right place for this, assuming that Ebook Viewer is bundled with Calibre...

But recently, as I use EV to go through a book doings some highlighting, it apparently randomly locks up, the reading pane just turns white and it won't do anything. I can go back to Calibre and open a new EV instance of the same book and carry on until it happens again fairly soon?

is this a known bug?

What release of Calibre?

If you have eudic installed uninstall it.

and I've never heard of eudic?

You will have some program on your machine interfering with the viewer, eudic is the most common culprit. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/calibre/+bug/2082062 for details

thankyou Kovid, that's helpful - but I'm not sure how to tell what this interfering software might be. I'm assuming Eudic would show up in Activity Monitor if i had it - but it's not there, nor in Applications folder or Spotlight Search? How can I identify the culprit?

You just have to look at running processes and eliminate them one by one.
