koreader: bad text formatting

Hello,

dunno where to search. With my current book (maybe other), koreader displays badly the text. Often, some words are like "stuck" together.

For example, instead of this is correct, it could be displayed as thisis correct.

Any idea how to fix that ?

This is with latest Kobo Glo hd firmware with latest koreader version. It does not happen in the original kobo reader software.

It's not a KOReader issue. It's a problem in the eBook. Is this a KePub or ePub you are trying to read? If it's KePub,, it could be a problem with the conversion from ePub to KePub as some recent versions of KoboTouchExtended has problems dropping some spaces. The current version 3.7.3 should work. So if it is a KePub, you'll want to upgrade KoboTouchExtended to 3.7.3 and resent all of your KePub to your Kobo to make sure they don't have the missing spaces.

You can try increasing the word expansion. Go to bottom menu, 4th tab ("AA").

But some books are just badly formatted and you're better off ignoring the embedded styles and use the default settings instead. You can further tweak them by changing settings and/or applying style tweaks. You ignore the book-embedded styles in the last tab in the bottom menu (gear).

If these eBooks are KePub, then it's the KePub that's at fault. I've never seen an issue where there are missing spaces in KOReader. But we know KePub can have missing spaces depending on which version(s) were used to convert ePub to KePub. If 3.7.1 and 3.7.2 of KoboTouchExtended were used, then there will be missing spaces. The only way to fix that is to install 3.7.3 and resend all KePub to the Kobo overwriting what already exists.

Thank you for the suggestions. Maybe I am dumb but is Kobo Extended mandatory at all ? Say I want to connect via OPDS from my Kobo, will it have the problem ?

The KoboTouchExtended driver is not mandatory.

Connecting via OPDS will not have the problem as long as you are downloading ePub.
