I published a video tutorial on my Youtube channel on how people can jailbreak their Kindles using HackerDude's WinterBreak method. Many people appreciated that video and some of them wanted to know how they can get rid of Mesquito and make Kindle Store work again.
I was not even sure how to do that. But after thinking for a while I tried this way. I just got back to my Kindle's root directory and deleted the following three folders such as ".active_content_sandbox", "mosquito" and "apps". Then I restarted my Kindle and tried to launch the store. It took some time to load for the first time. But I managed to make the store work. CAUTION: Before doing this you must disable OTA updates via renameOTAbin KUAL extension. Here is the video guide to get back the Kindle Store: Thanks a lot. BTW this is my first post on this forum and I have created an account just today. ![]() |

Hi there,
The video doesn't seem to be loading, do you have an alternative link or text writeup? Cheers |

I think if you search on YouTube. “How to unfreeze the Kindle Store on a jailbroken Kindle | Store stops loading after jailbreak fix,” you will find in a moment his video.
When I deleted the three folders mentioned in the first post of this threat and after restarting the Paperwhite 12 the Kindle store was back in a second. Otherwise, stay patient because it works and continue rebooting. |

Good day, after the winterbreak jailbreak, the send to kindle function and the kindle store don't seem to work. I would like to keep the device jailbroken, so I can use KOR reader. Will that be possible after trying you're methods?
Thanks for the help. Greetings |

TLDW;
recommended to disable OTA updates remove 3 folders from Winterbreak [basically remove Mesquito] (.active_content_sandbox, apps, mesquito) restart kindle open the store (enable wifi, if in airplane mode); if you encounter errors or white screen, keep retrying until the store loads (kindle has to re-cache the store) |
