Calibre help? IndexError: list index out of range

IndexError: list index out of range

I'm quite new to Calibre and setting up ebooks, but have some background in html and css. I'd brought in my book text and was happily using the editor to format it for several hours before suddenly encountering this error when renaming my last .html file. Now suddenly many things I try to do result in this "list index out of range" error, and I'm worried I'll lose all of the work I've done up to this point.

Is there any hope of rescue?

Just click save, quit and re-open your book, you will be fine. Or use save a copy if you want to be doubly safe. And if you can figure out what you did to cause that error, it would help me fix it.

This looks like the problem I had with version 1.17.0.
Since then I regularly do a save to be safe and I avoid long unsaved edit sessions. Until now, I did not encounter the problem again.

Opening the file again today did indeed fix the problem, I'm a bit amazed it could be that easy, but at the same time embarrassed I didn't try that on my own.

As for how I caused it I can't say exactly. The first time it occurred I was renaming the last .html file, after having successfully renamed the previous 22 files. I tried a few more times and then moved on, performing several more edits to the .html files throughout the book (I did have all those files open in tabs, if that could have been part of the problem...) and saving frequently, which is why when I realized I was getting the same error when I attempted any directory-level changes (renaming other files, adding new images), I couldn't just try reverting to before I got the error.

Keep an eye out. If you can manage yo make the error happen again, try to post the steps that led up to it.
