Big problem with a Kindle Oasis 9th generation, with standard Amazon's firmware. The device is already out of warranty by a very long time, but it was working fine so far. It stopped working suddenly; after changing the language in the settings the device started rebooting and never was back again. It is stuck on the boy under the tree screen, with the screen illuminated, with no progress bar. The device is not recognized as a USB device, so it freezes before that is possible.
I searched in the Internet for help and tried many things, including the hard reset (the screen goes blank but then back to the same screen), trying to drain its battery (not easy because at some point it seems that the light gets off and so probably uses very little energy), recharging during a long time with a wall charger (using the original cable and charger), etc., with no solution found. The closest point I was to solve the problem was this: after I got a "Low battery message" I left it charging overnight and next day I had a "Critical error troubleshooting" screen (similar to the one shown in https://www.reddit.com/r/kindle/comm...le_is_over_it/). I tried the option of resetting to factory settings, but it didn't work (I'm again stuck with the boy under the tree screen, with no error shown in the middle). Now I'm trying hard to get again the "Critical error troubleshooting" screen (no luck for the moment), in order to see if with that screen the device can be recognized as a USB device. I read at https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=280483 that there is REBOOT_LIMIT that may force that screen to appear, but I really tried rebooting many times. Any advice or idea is welcome! |

contact suppport
Considering you haven't gotten any replies, and a lack of information to go on - I think your best bet right now would be to contact amazon's support and go through the details with them.

Thank you. Amazon's support was not useful to solve this issue. Now, suddenly, I'm able to see the device in my PC as "Kindle Internal Storage USB Device", but the volume is grayed out and when clicking it says "Please insert disk into F:". The device status shown by Windows is "This device is working properly.", but the volume is inaccessible. I tried with other computers with Linux and mac, but with no luck either.
I'm afraid I have to abandon my attempts, but any advice is welcome. |

You can abandon your attempts, it's bricked a since you can't even do a debrick using USB to TTL adapter (even if you had the necessary equipment to open Oasis without braking the screen) it's dead and useless forever.
Any Kindle model released after the PW3 is basically non-repairable (at least not without writing the software directly to the eMMC chip) once it gets truly bricked to that point when it doesn't even export the storage space over USB cable. |
