"Add to Home Screen" and Address Bar (Android)
Hi,
I'm reading on the Content Server using Chrome on Android (latest). Add-to-home-screen used to give me a shortcut to Calibre and it doesn't show the address bar. But now the address bar is visible. I'm not sure if it is due to a change in Calibre or in Chrome. Microsoft Edge on Windows is facing the same issue, when I use the function "install as app" - address bar still shows. calibre has no control over this. It's up to the browser what chrome it shows in kiosk mode. I will note that on my android phone I have no address bar.

Do you think it is because I'm using a self-signed certificate for the content server now?
On Windows, Microsoft Edge, I can Install (Calibre) as App, but opening it, Edge complains about the privacy error, then when I proceed it opens ANOTHER instance of Microsoft Edge for Calibre. Then here, on the address bar, there is a button "Open in app", which now indeed opens Calibe in the "app" status (no address bar). Hmm. I am thinking about removing the certificate... Edit: I tested removing the certificate 1) On Windows, it is working now ok with Edge ( 2) On Android, Chrome still shows the bar. Last edited by nqk; 10-23-2024 at 12:01 AM. |
