Generated covers
Is there a way for the user to define/select a custom background image (and/or fonts) that is used to generate the covers in calibre (the ones that are generated for books without a cover)?

Ticket 5959 follows up a similar discussion with Kovid saying he could implement a button on the edit metadata screen to allow one to force the generation of the rather useful calibre default cover, ie the calibre logo plus book title and author which seen to occur randomly at present
I can see how this enhancement could extend to being able to include series data and perhaps in due course one's own jpg image as a form of bookplate perhaps this goes towards what is requested in this thread adrian |

As a work around you could possibly try replacing the default image provided within Calibre with another of the same size and name.
On my mac, the image is 554x449 pixels in size and seems to be located at: /Applications/calibre.app/Contents/Resources/resources/images/library.png |

I dont really have much motivation to make the default cover customizable. As pointed out, you can replace the calibre image in the calibre install so that your image is used instead.

Modifying Covers
I dont know if this site is even monitored any more but this is where the search engines brought me to.
It would be nice to have the ability to add a sub title, series number or add where the book was downloaded from to the cover of a book. |

Posting in a thread where the last message was over 14 years ago is not a great idea. Instead of necroposting, try posting a new message.
If you look through the more current messages, you would notice quite a few posts from kovidgoyal and chaley who are likely the most active calibre developers. |

You can do this with the Generate Cover plugin.
