Jailbroken Kindle PW3 refusing to start KOReader
Hi!
I've recently jailbroken my kindle PW3 so I can install KOReader and repurpose it, and I've succesfully jailbroken the device and installed KUAL, but when I try to start KOReader it refreshes the screen for a split second then returns to the home screen.

I've tried no-framework and asap versions but nothing.

I've seen a recent post saying that the nightly builds might work, but no luck.

So does anyone have a suggestion? I'll put some info below:

Running firmware 5.16.2.1.1
KOReader version 2024.03.1
KUAL version f190a38

If anybody needs more info I'll be happy to.

Which version of KOReader did you try to install? You need version with “pw2” in the package name.

attach crash.log file here from koreader folder.

I did Install the pw2 version as the tutorial said.

and here's crash.log, but I had to convert it to txt. but hopefully this will suffice as the conversion didn't change any callbacks and whatnot.

Your JB did not work. Install NiLiJe’s hotfix from Snapshot’s again and restart Kindle twice in a row.

Hi there, sorry for ressurecting an old thread, but I'm experiencing the same problem. Applied the hotfix install and no KOReader version seems to load for me.

My specs are:
PW3 (7th gen)
FW: 5.16.2.1.1

I did manage to install KUAL and Helper after a few false starts, so I'm suspecting it's an old version that's causing it? I've already try this too, with no luck.

Either way, attached the crash log, lemme know if there's anything else I'm doing wrong!

You need the one with pw2 in the name.

Otherwise, framebuffer is OK, so JB worked

There are a lot of missing files in the log.

Make sure you copy it properly. Use 7-zip or other reliable archiver to unzip it.

Put it in the koreader folder

My bad, I got that KR version from here, the "last updated June 2024" part had me thinking it was up to date, sorry!

Otherwise, you should be good updating KOReader from within itself
