Copy and paste while preserving italics?
Is there any possibility to select a text from another site, for example from Wikipedia, and paste it into Sigil so that the italics and boldface it contains are preserved?

It all depends on the source location supporting proper mimedata when copying something to the clipboard. If they set an html mimetype then yes.

Install PageEdit, set it as the default external XHTML editor, open an XHTML file via Sigil, paste the Wikipedia content into it and save the .xhtml file in PageEdit.
