Coward's Rescue Pack Addon
I've got a new Paperwhite 2 and I can't wait to do nasty things to that poor device.
Therefore I made this addon that should make the Kindle as brick-proof as possible. It is called Coward's Rescue Pack Addon and it should be installed after ixtab's Rescue Pack. It's purpose is simple - whenever USB power connection is detected during boot, Kindle reboots in diags mode. The probe is done as early as possible and does not require userstore. The downside is you will get to diags if you forget yourself and reboot while the device is charging. Credits to ixtab for his Rescue Pack. EDIT: Should work on PW1 as well from version 2 ---- NOTE: If you're looking for something working on newer devices, try the one in NiLuJe's snapshots thread. -- NiLuJe Last edited by NiLuJe; 02-06-2016 at 06:34 PM. @dsmid-
Has this been tried / used on a PW1? (I know the title says PW2, but I'm thinking of becoming more adventurous with my PW1 and I am definitely a coward!! ) Thanks! |

Well, this version won't work on PW1 but with a simple change it could.
I will make a new version for you. |

1. Tap on "S) Device settings" 2. Tap on "X) Exit" 3. Tap on "D) Exit, Reboot or Disable diags" 4. Tap on "D) Disable diagnostics" 5. Tap on "Q) To continue" Steps 1 and 2 are only needed for the first time, you can go directly to step 3 on the next diags session. |

Can anyone help. I accidently installed Coward's Rescue Pack Addon on a Paperwhite 1 5.4.4.PW1. It booted into the diagnostic mode and froze the first time I restarted it. Is there anyway to way to uninstall the Rescue Pack?

@dbomb1: Just install update_crpa_2_uninstall.bin to uninstall CRPA.
Don't uninstall the Rescue Pack, it doesn't cause any bad side effects and it can be very useful in case of emergency. If you have problems leaving the diags mode, see this post: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...42#post2784842 Last edited by dsmid; 03-18-2014 at 02:34 AM. |
