Kobo Clara HD Led "signals"

My Kobo Clara HD has a frozen screen (white screen, two open circles and one solid circle). I have tried a new sd card with a Clara HD image (which I got here), but still the display is frozen. Whatever keypress, charging, etc I try. I have charged the e-reader fully (and with monitoring saw it took aout 1400 mAh). The only sign of life I see is the LED on the power button.

I see several different patterns, based on the option I try.
- 2 Hz blinking (twice a second) forever
- Always on
- Blinking twice and then off, then blinking couple of time at 2 Hz, then off
- Blinking 1 second on, 0,5 second off (when USB cable connected)

When connecting the e-reader to my laptop, it is not recognized...
Can someone explain the different meanings of the LED signals?

Anyone an suggestion what to do to unfreeze the screen?

Did you make any progress on your problem?
I currently have a similar problem that I get different light patterns based on which SDcard image I have installed.
I'm coming to the conclusion that something fried on the mother board.
