Error message with Portable Calibre
Trying to run Portable Calibre from USB stick, get this error message:
calibre, version 7.7.0 ERROR: Could not create temporary folder: Could not create temporary folder, calibre cannot start. Click "Show details" for more information. Traceback (most recent call last): File "calibre\gui2\__init__.py", line 1177, in __init__ File "calibre\ptempfile.py", line 121, in base_dir File "tempfile.py", line 368, in mkdtemp FileNotFoundError: [WinError 3] The system cannot find the path specified: 'D:\\UserTmp\\calibre_5fa6_vid' I don't have a drive D, my USB is F: Any suggestions? A config file somewhere? Cheers Paddy |

D:\UserTmp\ is an 'odd' location
IIRC calibre portable uses the host systems User TEMP environment variable setting, which is usually set to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp. Do a start panel search for 'environment variables' and you should be led to this: While you're there have a look to see if the CALIBRE_TEMP_DIR EnvVar is set, I'm not sure of portable makes any use of that. open a command prompt
Type the word SET (nothing else) and hit return Scroll thru: is the a D: anywhere? BTW UserTmp seems a bit odd How did you start Calibre-Portable? Calibre-Portable.exe is what you should run, NOT Calibre.exe |

Thanks for your help - I renamed the USB drive to be D: and Portable now works fine!
