Touch Lux 5 screen issue

My Touch Lux 5 updated firmware about a week ago. Since then, the touchscreen has only been working when it feels like it. As I'm reading, sometimes the menu pops up, and I have to hit the menu button again to minimize it. Sometimes it moves pages without me touching the button. I can see the power light flash when it does these odd things.

The most annoying thing is the touchscreen will just stop responding. This makes it very hard to open a new book, or get off the home screen.

So far, I have:

removed it from the case, to make sure it wasn't a magnet issue/my case pressing on something
reverted it to the earliest firmware it would accept from the PocketBook website
when it still had the issue on the early firmware, I tried updating the firmware again. (both these times I was stuck on the screen to enter my WiFi password for several hours, since the screen stopped responding)

I'm out of ideas. I really don't want to have to replace it if I don't have to.

You could try a factory reset.
